What fish oil do we use?
Our frozen and freeze-dried raw recipes for dogs are comprised of sardine and anchovy, while our gently cooked recipes for dogs and our cat formulas feature cod liver oil. These fish are generally lower in mercury and have less environmental impact. They are also screened for mercury and other toxins.
Are there muscle meats in your Iamb and beef complete and balanced food?
Yes, the heart is an organ and a muscle - used to make up the percentage needed to make this recipe complete and balanced.
What does "whole-prey" mean?
Whole-prey means we use the entire muscular and skeletal system of the animal (chicken, duck, turkey, and rabbit) to provide a strong and natural nutrient profile. We do not include feathers, fur, or beaks.
FEEDING & STORAGE
How do I store the frozen food?
We recommend keeping the bag in the freezer and only scooping out what you need at each meal time.
You can pre-scoop each meal beforehand and keep that portion in the refrigerator. Refrigerated food is safe to feed for three days.
How long does your frozen food last?
12 months if it is kept in the freezer with the bag sealed. The expiration date will be available on the top of each bag for further clarification.
How long does your freeze-dried food last?
The shelf life of our freeze-dried food is 18 months. There is an expiration date at the top of each bag for further clarification and guidelines.
How much should I feed my dog?
The recommendation is 2-3% of your dog's body weight. To convert that to ounces:
- Weight x 16oz = Y
- Y x.02 = the number of ounces to feed.
It is important to keep in mind that one cup of frozen food = 4oz
Our freeze-dried formula feeding guidelines are based on feeding your pet the cubes rehydrated.
Can I feed feline formula to canines or vice versa?
It is okay to feed one bag of food to the opposite species. We do not recommend feeding this way long term. Though the dog and cat formulas are similar, our cat food has the necessary higher protein and taurine levels for felines.

Our gently cooked recipes are softly steamed at 165 degrees to provide enhanced palatability - produced in the same cube shape without the use of heavy starches or carbs.

What format is the gently cooked available in?

What is the difference between raw and gently cooked?
Our gently cooked recipes are steam-cooked to perfection at 165 degrees, while our frozen raw recipe do not undergo any processes including heat.
Can I feed gently cooked to any dog?
Yes! Our recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of all dogs (with the exception of puppies that will exceed 70lbs in adulthood).
Can I feed gently cooked to my cat?
Our gently cooked recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of dogs, therefor, we do not recommend using it as a full meal for your feline.
Do these recipes contain ground bone?
Yes, our gently cooked recipes contain ground bone (approximately 1mm), not visible to the naked eye.

What format is the cat recipe available in?
All recipes are available in cube shape format with frozen raw offered in 3lb bags, and freeze-dried offered in 5.5oz bags.
Can I feed this recipe to any cat?
Yes! Our feline recipes are formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of growing and adult cats. Note: Cats of different age, activity level, and current health may require more/less food.
How much protein is in these recipes?
Our feline recipes are comprised of 94% protein with 6% whole food supplements, including bone broth.
What are species-specific probiotics?
Species specific probiotics are cultivated from wild mountain lions' microbiome to provide a natural approach to gut health.
Are the ingredients the same in frozen raw and freeze dried?
Yes, our freeze dried and frozen raw feline recipes are comprised of the exact same ingredients.

What is air-dried?
Air drying removes the moisture from our treats with low temperature through air circulation. This gives the treats a longer shelf life, adding a nice crunchy texture. Air drying also preserves the integrity and enzymes of the protein, allowing for a nutritionally dense and palatable treat!
What is HPP?
High-pressure processing (HPP) is a “nonthermal” food preservation technique that inactivates harmful pathogens and vegetative spoilage microorganisms by using cold water pressure rather than heat to effect pasteurization.

How do you know your food is safe?
Every batch of food is third-party tested for common bacterias. Due to our clean in-house manufacturing facility, we have total control of the quality of our equipment and formulas. We can ensure that our frozen foods are safe for your pet to consume and for humans to handle safely!
